People of North Cork Step up to Support Our Lady’s Childrens Hospital Crumlin

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011. In excess of 250 people are expected to turn out for a 5km charity walk in support of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin on Saturday, June 18th, in the north Cork town of Doneraile.

 

Hosted by Mallow-based Barry Group, the 5km charity walk will take place within the grounds of Doneraile Park at 1pm.

 

The management and staff of Barry Group have been fundraising on behalf of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin for the past five years, actively organising and support various initiatives to raise funds for a number of research projects being undertaken by the dedicated staff at the hospital.

 

So far, the company has donated in excess of €160,000 in support of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital which went towards supporting refurbishment works and helping to build a special ward to treat children diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.

 

Helping to kick-start this latest fundraising drive, Barry Group employees and their families will take part in the charity walk in Doneraile on June 18th. The organisers hope the walk will raise up to €10,000, going towards research projects at Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin.

 

Everyone is welcome to take part in the 5km charity walk as the local community unites in support of this extremely worthy cause, so come out and join the fun in Doneraile Park on June 18th at 1pm!

It is responsible for the majority of tertiary care services for children, including the national centre for cardiac surgery and haematology/oncology, major burns, medical genetics and medical research for childhood illnesses.
