Costcutter Supports Ireland’s Young Athletes in New Partnership with Triathlon Ireland
We are proud to announce that we are the Official Retail Partner to Triathlon Ireland’ and the official supporter of all of Triathlon Ireland’s youth and kids’ activities.
Triathlon Ireland is the National Governing Body for one of Ireland’s most dynamic and inclusive sports. Since the first triathlon event was held in north Co. Dublin in the early 1980s, the sport of triathlon has experienced unprecedented growth to the extent that Ireland now ranks fifth in the world for participation rates in triathlon per head of capita.
From its roots as a sport for the ultra-fit, triathlon has become a mass participation activity for all ages and abilities. Youth triathlon is the fastest growing sector of the sport, with kids undertaking fun mini duathlons from the age of six upwards.
Triathlon Ireland is delighted to welcome Costcutter on board as its Official Retail Partner and the supporter of all youth junior activities, including the Youth Series – a nationwide competition for teenage triathletes in nine stunning locations this summer.
The announcement comes just weeks ahead of the start of Triathlon Ireland’s first ever Youth Series – a summer long series of triathlons for 12 to 17 year olds in locations right around the country. The Youth Series supported by Costcutter, marks the first time the sport has launched a nationwide competition for young people and is a reflection of the substantial growth in youth triathlon in recent years.
Triathlon Ireland CEO Darren Coombes said Costcutter are a great fit for the Youth Series:

Mr Coombes added that the past year has been very challenging for young members, making the series even more important: “The Youth Series supported by Costcutter, will give our young athletes an opportunity to compete with their clubmates in some fantastic events and venues around the country as society re-opens.”
